Biking With a Photographer

Posted in Cycling, Family, Hiking on August 10th, 2009 by corey

Ava’s and my plan to go mountain biking in Lakewood was foiled by construction on C470 funded by the federal bailout. So clearly it’s Obama’s fault, but I digress.

We decided to go to Hidden Mesa instead, and picked up Jen and Laney on the way by the house. They hiked one direction on the loop, we rode the other way and met up with them at the rock garden section.

So anyway, here’s a couple of pics Jen took as I was showing off:

Short Ride With the Kids

I needed to capture a GPS track of the trail in Bluffs Regional Park (Lone Tree) for Singletracks.com, and Jen wanted a break from the kids, so I packed the kids and bikes and off we went.

I hear the shoe-in-mouth method of climbing is highly recommended by Carmichael Training Systems. I may have to try it.

Laney was mad about something…can’t remember what exactly:

Bike To Work Day 2009

Posted in Cycling on June 24th, 2009 by corey

This morning was perfect for riding, even with all the debris on the trail from the previous night’s flooding.

Here’s the old bike with its new fork and laptop bag:

The food and schwag station:

Most of the trail looks like this:

Here’s a really good recap of the whole ride:

Not All Rides Are Fun

Tonight’s weekly ride was Chimney Gulch in Golden.

I didn’t feel well.

I didn’t ride well

And I even capped it off with a nice digger on the way back down.

All in all, not the most fun I’ve had on a bicycle.

But, I did get some good photos :D

What a nice trail, but it's a CLIMB to get to this

More Experimenting With the Helmet Cam

Tonight, for something different, I tried attaching the camera to the frame, just behind the headset. For a smooth paved trail, it’s perfect, but I’m afraid the vibration would be too much for offroad use.

Here’s a sample:
