This morning at the breakfast table I asked Laney, “What day is today?”

    “Friday!”

“Yes, but that’s not what I mean.”

    “Dance class!”

    “Yes, but not that.”

    “Last day of school.”

    “Yeah, but what else.”

    “The BBQ at school!”

    “OMGosh Laney!”

    Ava whispers to her.

“It’s Kindergarten graduation!!!!”, she finally exclaims!  What a hoot!

It seems lately that I rarely get any good photos of  Ava.  Today that was not the case.  She got in the car when I picked her up from school very excited.  I asked her how her day was.  She said excellent.  They had an in school field trip.  During part of it they had a word search contest.  Ava won!  The prize she won was a rock and tool kit.  You use the tools to break the “rock” apart and find a dinosaur inside.  She was pumped!  She’s been so into breaking rocks apart lately.  She wants to look inside them for gems and “treasures.” ;D  She wanted to do it the minute we got home.  And so she did!

Some days Ava is so grown up.  Yesterday we were sitting at the table.  I was helping her with her homework.  I started to get a migraine.  I laid my head down on the table.  After a few minutes Ava says, “Mom.  Why don’t you just go to the couch and lay down.  I can finish up here at the table by myself.”

“Ava that is so sweet.  I really feel terrible.  Come to the living room with me.  I’ll help you with your definitions while on the couch and then you can do the rest.”

    “Ok, Mom.”

So we headed to the couch.  It helped me…as much as anything can when I have a migraine.  I helped her with her definitions and then tried to rest.  I heard Laney ask me something.  Ava said, “Shhhh Laney!  Don’t ask her anything she doesn’t feel good and she’s trying to rest!”  I don’t remember anything after that.  They must have done a good job of being quiet cause I got some rest and didn’t wake up till Corey got home.  When Ava acts like that sometimes I wonder who switched her. ;D  Not more than a 1/2 hour before they were fighting and slamming doors.  Go figure. ;D

I also wanted to say Happy Easter to everyone.  No matter what you do or how you celebrate I hope your day is wonderful!  I have an Easter layout that I want to share.

    Migraines.  They suck.

I had one late this afternoon.  It prevented me from going out with Laney tonight.  She had her artwork from school on display at the local hospital.  Tonight was a reception for the artists and family.  Corey graciously took her for me.  He also took pictures. ;D

Good plans just didn’t pan out today.  I was going to post what I’m doing in my albums for the crop overnight.  Only…Ava got really sick last night…very sick…and I didn’t sleep at all.  So that will have to wait a day or two when I get some more sleep.  I’m hoping Ava will get better soon.  I seem to remember having sick kids a month ago for our anniversary.  Think it’s going to happen again for my birthday…:(

I dragged my tired self to school today for Laney’s class was having a Green Eggs + Ham party.  They made hats and listened to the story of Green Eggs and Ham.  Then they were served Green Eggs + Ham!

Laney came running out to the car at carpool today with a pair of sunglasses on.  One of the lenses was missing.  I thought it was adorable.  She got in the car and I said, “Cute glasses.”  Ava said, “But one of the lenses is missing.”  Ugh.  Of course then Laney starts to whine and cry saying that one of her ‘best friends’ chose the glasses out of the treasure box but then didn’t want them and “convinced” Laney to trade.  This is NOT the first time this has happened.  And Laney has come home with either what she didn’t really want…or a broken toy cause another child made a poor choice and Laney is too nice to say no.  And I tell her it is okay to tell them no and she immediately rushes to their defence if I say that doesn’t sound like they are being a good friend to her.  She whines and cries but when I tell her how to deal with it she doesn’t want to.  Sigh.

So I said to Laney, “Well never mind about — (her ‘friend’).  We are going to take those glasses home and make them so special she would wish she had chose them!”  That got her excited!  So this is what I did with them…

    laneyinglasses

We now refer to them as her “funky glasses” and we are talking about all the places she can wear them and be cool.  ;D  Ava joined in and is being extremely supportive.  Even telling her she can find other friends who won’t do that to her.  So cool!!!

I am frequently looking for this type of thing online…or in Walmart but can never find exactly what I’m looking for and end up making my own.  Then I thought maybe someone out there could benefit from it as well…

Ava is studying multiplication…already!…and she informed me last night that she needs to go over 3 + 4 times tables cause she doesn’t have them memorized.  She has a set of multiplication flash cards from Walmart that I got her but I don’t care for them and neither does she because…and I don’t know if you’ve ever noticed this before…but they don’t have all of the sets in order…they have all of the numbers there…in some form…but I’m sure, to save money, they’ve got them arranged so that duplicates aren’t duplicated…if that makes sense.  And Ava…being my child…of course…can’t stand it!!!!  “But Mom…it doesn’t start with a 3!!!!”  And I respond with, “It doesn’t matter.”  Hoping that she will accept that…which she doesn’t…cause I wouldn’t!!!!  She is soooooooooooooooooo my daughter!!!

So this morning I spent a few minutes doing up 3 + 4 times tables for her in Photoshop.  I made them into .png files and am going to include links to the files so you can download them…hey…anything that will save time and money I say!!!!  Wish I had this when I went looking!!! ;D  If this helps anyone out there I’m so glad!
