The girls’ school is remembering the anniversary of 9/11 tomorrow by wearing red, white and blue tomorrow in lieu of uniforms.  They are also writing letters to soldiers serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.  This is such an interesting thing for me…for I remember 9/11…Ava was only 4 months old…I remember putting her down for a nap in her room and coming downstairs and turning on the tv to see the World Trade Center burning.  Laney wasn’t even born yet.  And now here is my 7 year old daughter writing a letter to a soldier she doesn’t know thanking him or her for their service for something that happened when she was an infant…something she doesn’t and won’t ever remember…like I will.  It is very hard for me to describe how I feel.  I’m very proud of her.  And I will never forget.

“We sleep soundly in our beds at night because rough men [and women] stand ready in the night to visit violence upon those who would do us harm” ~George Orwell

I can’t believe it’s been that long, and that our school is taking such a positive approach to it!

what a lovely thing to do for those away from home protecting us… tell your girls, thank you. Doesn’t it seems like yesterday… glad something positive is happening to reflect on our loss.
