Laney has a friend over today.  They are playing upstairs in her room.  I heard something going on.  I waited.  I heard them speaking in low tones about what to do.  Laney’s friend asked her what she was going to do.  “Let me go tell her.”  Laney says.  I hear Laney come down the stairs.

    “Mom.”

    “Yes.”

“I accidentally-by-mistake-not-on-purpose-totally-didn’t-mean-to-so-sorry-wrote-on-my-chair-with-a-marker-while-I-was-drawing-didn’t-mean-to-it-was-an-accident, please don’t be mad at me!!!”

“Thank you for telling me Laney.  Take the wet rag from the kitchen and try to wipe it off.  I am not mad at you.”

    “Ok, Mom!”

She ran back upstairs and I heard her friend ask her, “So what did she say?”

Laney said, “She wasn’t mad.  As long as I tell her what happened right away and don’t hide it and don’t lie she doesn’t get mad.”

Her friend said, “Yeah.  My mom is the same way.”

I love, love, love that Laney is getting this!!!!  And I today, as a Mom, I feel like I’m doing it right! ;D
